Four Beaumont High School students are suspects in the Rose Bowl locker room thefts during the Oct. 28 game between Colorado and UCLA, authorities said Monday. No one has been arrested, said Lisa Derderian, spokeswoman for the city of Pasadena. Police referred the case to the District Attorney’s Office that handles juvenile cases, she added. She couldn’t immediately confirm media reports that the suspects were recruits to UCLA and were on a visit that day. UCLA did say individuals tied to the case were not on an official visit.Beaumont Unified School District officials also did not confirm if the students are football players at the school.“We are disappointed and disheartened to hear of the alleged involvement of Beaumont High School students in the incident at the UCLA-Colorado football game on Oct. 28,” Alex Sponheim, who oversees the Communications Department at the district, said in an email.“We strive to promote strong character and integrity in our students, and the alleged act...Before and after: Photos show destruction of World War II-era hangar by massive fire

The north hangar was one of two enormous twin structures at the former Tustin Marine Corps Air Station built by the military during World War II for blimp operations. Over the years, the hangars became beloved landmarks in the community and even served as sets for the TV show “Star Trek” and the film “Pearl Harbor.”In the early hours of Nov. 7, firefighters responded to reports of a blaze at the north hangar. The cause is still under investigation. The two mostly wooden hangars – each is 17 stories tall, 1,000 feet long and 300 feet wide – were quickly built at the base to house 12 blimps to patrol the West Coast against Japanese submarines. In later years the hangars were used by helicopter squadrons until the base was shuttered.According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, which named the hangars one of the “Historic Civil Engineering Landmarks” of the 20th Century, the Tustin hangars are two of the largest wooden structures ever built, and contain the largest covered, uno...Eneti: Q3 Earnings Snapshot

My mandarin orange tree and spider plants enjoyed a longer vacation than I did, having spent the entire summer outdoors on the back deck. But the party ended late last month when frost threatened. So I gave them a thorough hose drenching — leaves and all — to remove any would-be hitchhikers and poured a bit of diluted Neem oil over the soil for good measure before bringing them indoors. But their transition didn’t end there.Just as when potted plants are introduced outside in spring, they undergo an acclimation period when they come back in. The difference is that at the beginning of the season, we “harden them off,” or move them into a shady spot for incrementally longer periods each day until they adjust to the stronger sunlight and breezy air of the great outdoors. The reverse, however, is often done in haste on the weatherman’s whim, so it doesn’t usually afford the same leisurely dawdling. That’s why your recently reintroduced houseplants might be turning yellow, dro...Trevena: Q3 Earnings Snapshot

LONDON (AP) — A flagship EU law intended to push European companies toward net zero faces being seriously weakened by member states, a confidential document passed to The Associated Press reveals, with firms seemingly no longer forced to implement Paris Agreement goals. The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive was designed to make companies eliminate environmental and human rights violations throughout all areas of their business. The legislation was meant to ensure firms’ operations were aligned with a global rise in temperatures of no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit). But a Nov. 9 briefing obtained by The AP details a watered-down proposal that would drop the entire financial sector from the initial law. Banks and insurers are among Europe’s biggest contributors to global warming, by financing or insuring new oil and gas projects, or agribusinesses that chop down tropical rainforests. Nonprofits also warn the new proposal would mean firms merely need to ha...Beam Global: Q3 Earnings Snapshot
