Mets acquire RHP Trevor Gott from Mariners in exchange for LHP Zach Muckenhirn

The Mets acquired right-handers Trevor Gott and Chris Flexen in a deal with the Seattle Mariners Monday, the team announced. In return, the Mariners received rookie left-hander Zach Muckenhirn.Gott will be the only addition to the Mets’ bullpen, as the team designated Flexen for assignment. Flexen, who was owed $8 million this season, was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week. The Mets are now responsible for the $4 million left on the former Met’s contract.Gott joins the Mets after appearing in 30 games this season. The reliever is 0-3 with a 4.03 ERA in 29 innings of work. Gott has pitched for eight major league teams in eight seasons and has a 16-13 overall record with a 4.70 ERA.Muckenhirn became the first player from the University of North Dakota to reach the majors after the Mets picked up his contract on May 1.
