SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- The California National Guard is stepping into San Francisco's fentanyl crisis to try and stop the flow of fentanyl from reaching open-air drug markets by targeting "prominent poison peddlers," the governor said Friday.The joint operation is enlisting resources from the National Guard, California Department of Justice, California Highway Patrol, San Francisco Police Department, and San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.Mayor London Breed, California National Guard Major General Matthew Beevers, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, and San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott are holding a news conference at 12:30 p.m. Friday to release more details about the joint operation. A suspect has been captured by police after a pursuit ended with him swimming into a canal and fleeing into a South Florida backyard.Law enforcement later identified the suspect as 54-year-old Marc A.
